1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Cavalli Models Africa Limited (“Cavalli”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a company incorporated in Uganda (registration number 80020000231816) and based in Kampala. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide why and how it is used.

This policy covers cavallimodelsafrica.com (the “Website”) and our direct communications about it. Talent applications are submitted through our application platform at login.cavallimodelsafrica.com, which shows its own privacy information at the point of application. This policy does not repeat that information; please read it before you apply.

Please contact us at le***@*****************ca.com with any privacy question or request.

2. Information we collect

We do not ask Website visitors to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect special categories of personal information through the Website’s enquiry form. Please do not include sensitive information (for example health, religion, or government identity numbers) in an enquiry.

3. Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you using only automated processing.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The Website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and it does not load third-party tracking scripts. Fonts are served from our own site. WordPress may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies, for example when our staff sign in, to keep the Website secure and working. If we add analytics, advertising or any optional cookie in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires.

If a profile includes a video, it is only loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service when you choose to play it, and YouTube’s own policy then applies. Links to social platforms and WhatsApp take you to those services, which apply their own privacy terms.

5. Who we share information with

We limit access to people at Cavalli who need it to handle enquiries or run the Website. We use service providers who process information on our instructions, such as website hosting and email delivery. They may only use the information to provide their service to us. Where an enquiry concerns a shortlisted Talent or a project, we may share the necessary details with that Talent or with project partners so the enquiry can be answered, and we will tell you if we need to share more. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or to establish or defend legal rights. If our business is reorganised or sold, information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

6. Transfers outside your country

Our service providers may store or process information in countries other than Uganda, and you may contact us from another country. Where personal information leaves Uganda or your country, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to a standard that the applicable law requires, for example through contracts with our providers.

7. How long we keep it

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, restricted staff access, protection against automated abuse, and keeping the Website software up to date. No online system is completely secure, so please do not send us anything you would not want to risk. If a personal data breach affects you and the law requires us to tell you or the regulator, we will do so.

9. Children

The Website is not directed at children. Where an application or enquiry concerns a person under 18, it must involve a parent or legal guardian, who must give consent for the child’s information to be used. If you believe a child has sent us information without that consent, please contact us and we will deal with it promptly.

10. Your rights

Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda, and under similar laws in other countries (including, depending on where you live, those of Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and the European Union), you may have the right to:

To use any of these rights, write to le***@*****************ca.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, we aim to respond within 30 days, and we may keep some information where the law or a legitimate record-keeping need requires it, in which case we will explain why. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Office in Uganda (Uganda’s data protection regulator, under the National Information Technology Authority, NITA-U), or to the regulator in the country where you live. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

11. Links to other websites

The Website may link to other websites and services, including social media, messaging apps and our application platform. We are not responsible for how others handle your information; please read their privacy notices.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Website or the law changes. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell the people it affects.
